Logging While Tripping (LWT) Field Supervisor Job Description - July 2008
Datalog is a leading provider of formation evaluation data to the Oil Sands, Conventional Oil & Gas, and Mineral Mining industries. Logging While Tripping (LWT) utilizes memory based logging tools deployed in specialized drill collars acquiring data during tripping operations. The LWT Field Supervisor position is a critical part of Datalog’s formation evaluation team. Reporting to the Operations Coordinator, this Calgary based position requires field deployments to projects within Western Canada, with possible International opportunities. Responsibilities
- Acquires quality open hole logging data using patented LWT technique
- Performs pre-job planning of/and logging operations.
- Crew management.
- Technical communications with client.
- Coordinates with other Field Supervisors to handle equipment movements and coordinate projects.
- Prepares compliance documents that meet or exceed government and company regulations.
- Able to work independently with little or no supervision for extended periods of time in remote areas.
- Potential for working at heights, and/or in high or low ambient temperatures.
- Maintains equipment at all times.
- Troubleshooting of mechanical, electronic equipment and computers.
- Adheres to Datalog’s strict code of conduct and HSE procedures.
- Ensures that all Datalog personnel on the jobsite are following the corporate policy.
- Special projects as required.
Education
- Technical university degree or college diploma preferred. Will consider candidates with high level of field experience in lieu of formal technical education.
- Datalog provides training on tools and equipment through internal and external training.
Experience / Requirements
- Legally able to work in Canada.
- Reasonable spoken and written English.
- Past technical experience in MWD, wireline logging, mudlogging, coil tubing, or other petroleum industry experience are definite assets.
- Past experience working in remote locals for extended periods of time an asset.
- Clean driving record.
- Ability to pass company drug screening test.
- Up to date safety training courses an asset (H2S, First Aid, CPR).
- This is a Calgary based position and all non-field days are spent in the Calgary facility maintaining and testing equipment in our test well. Existing residence in Calgary is preferred for this position.

Wireline Field Engineer Job Description - June 2008

The Wireline Field Engineer position is a critical part of Datalog's formation evaluation team. In charge of a crew and a one-ton style wireline logging unit equipped with a self-contained picker and compact logging tools, the engineer acquires formation data in the oil sands and mineral mining industries. This includes shallow well open hole logging operations with and without the drilling rig present. Reporting to the Operations Coordinator, this Calgary based position requires field deployments to projects primarily within Alberta and British Columbia.
